2013 Users’ Conference Review

The 28th Annual REMI Users’ Conference addressed timely economic topics and honored research by clients in October.

The conference, held at the historic Hotel Teatro in Denver, Colorado, offered engaging presentations from our users on a range of subjects, including Medicaid expansion, the economics of immigration reform, corporate income tax rate reduction, carbon tax implementation, county-level demographics, and much more.

One of the conference’s major highlights was the awarding of the George I. Treyz Award for Excellence in Economic Analysis.

The award was given to Scott Siler and Mark Gerner of Booz Allen Hamilton, in recognition for their study, Integrated Future World Generation System. Darin Chidsey of the Southern California Association of Governments received an honorable mention for Regional Transportation Plan 2012-2035: Sustainable Communities Strategy Towards a Sustainable Future.

REMI guests and staff enjoyed getting together for dinner the evening before the conference and during a reception at the close of the first day’s presentations. Guests also had the opportunity to take in local sights, including a guided tour of the Denver Art Museum.

As is our tradition, Dr. George Fulton led a vote at the conference to determine the location for next year; we are pleased to announce that the 29th Annual REMI Users’ Conference will be hosted in Nashville, Tennessee.

We are currently researching the dates and conference space, but please mark your calendars for mid-October 2014 to join us in Nashville!
